The origin of our first Charcoal Grill was a special request from one of Melbourne’s finest restaurants. It wasn’t that they couldn’t find a grill, there are certainly no lack of them on the market. They wanted something better, a grill built like a tank, that could handle the rigours of a commercial kitchen. They were also looking to reduce the amount of charcoal and firewood that they were having to use to keep their grill hot.

We developed a new grill design, focusing on performance and longevity. Every single part of the grill was over-engineered to ensure that it would handle the rough environment of a commercial kitchen for years. We ensured that the grill was heavily insulated to minimise charcoal consumption and ensure steady, even heat across the cooking surface. The grill casing is made from 2mm thick 304 Grade stainless steel, with 8x8mm 316 Grade Stainless square bar used for the grill sections themselves. We are very proud to be able to offer these grills to our customers!

Strong Legs

The legs of the grill are made with 80x80mm Stainless Steel, with a wall thickness of 3mm. Each leg has a heavy duty adjustable foot to get the grill sitting level regardless of ground conditions.

Grill Body

The outer body of the grill is 2mm thick folded 304 Grade Stainless Steel, with all seams professionally welded, ground and brushed back. The legs are TIG welded onto the body for maximum strength. These are proudly made in Melbourne, Australia.


The walls and base of the grill are lined with 50mm thick Calcium Silicate Board, a refractory material with outstanding insulating properties. This layer minimises heat escaping through the walls and floor of the grill body, keeping the heat in the grill where you want it. Note that the outside surfaces can still reach over 150°C, as charcoal burns at over 900°C. 

Fire Brick Walls

The inside walls of the grill are made with 25mm thick Refractory Bricks, rated to 1350°C. These bricks are incredibly tough, made to handle the rough conditions and extreme temperatures of this environment.

Cast Refractory Floor Panel

The Grill Floor is very special – it’s a 30mm thick panel made in-house with Refractory Castable, reinforced with Stainless Steel fibres. Having a smooth floor allows you to easily scoop ash out without catching your scoop on a brick edge.

Grill Bars

Our grill sections are made with 8x8mm Grade 316 Stainless Steel bar. The bars are welded on a 45° angle to maximise the area over the charcoal, and giving your food those sear lines that you’re after. The grill sections are fully removable.

Our Charcoal Grills are packed on heavy duty timber pallets measuring 120cm x 120cm, securely wrapped and strapped, ready for the rigours of a trip across Australia.
